There’s an adage that says, “You reap what you sow,” and we take those words to heart at Hazlitt. We address the world and our work with intention and care — from our wine-making practices to protection of the land we tend and our support for the greater community around us.
The Hazlitt winemaking and vineyard teams work very closely together in order to produce the highest quality wines. The separation between vinifera production at Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards  (Hector, NY) and native and hybrid variety production at Hazlitt Red Cat Cellars (Naples, NY), has allowed the winemaking teams to be more focused on their craft.

The bulk of Hazlitt’s wine is made from native Labrusca (and hybrid) grapes like Catawba, Niagara, and Concord. These grapes produce wines like Red Cat, White Cat, Pink Cat, and Bramble Berry. The Hazlitt family works with local Finger Lakes farmers to source the grapes needed to produce thousands of cases of these wines each year.

The Hazlitt family owns over 55 acres of vineyards which are used to produce our estate-grown vinifera wines like Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and more. Since harvests tend to vary year to year, Michael Reidy, the Vinifera Winemaker, gets to have more of an artistic license when it comes to crafting the grapes into wine. The production of these wines tends to be smaller (generally, less than 150 cases of each variety).

Red Cat is a an award-winning sweet red wine made from native Catawba and red hybrid grapes. The red hybrids give the wine that unmistakable sultry ruby red color and the Catawba give it that sweet, tangy zing you'll love!

Red Cat Dark is an award-winning sweet red wine made from native Concord grapes which give it an intense rich purple color. It's seductive, juicy and refreshing.

We’ve taken the Red Cat flavors you love and combined them with a premium blend of fruits and spices that will make your taste buds dance!

Sparkling

Wake up your taste buds with this new twist on traditional sangria. The ultimate in refreshing, our White Cat Sangria combines a premium blend of Pineapple, Peach, and Passion Fruit with wine.  

A medium-sweet Riesling; balanced by crisp acidity and fruity flavors such as mandarin orange and ripe peach with notes of floral blooms.

A well-structured Riesling with hints of clover honey and pineapple and a sweet and tart flavor like rock candy with lemonade. 

A beautiful dry Riesling that has flavors of ripe melon, apple blossoms, lemon zest and a mouthwatering fruit forward palate with a crisp acidity and minerality. 

With each harvest, our winemaker selects from the most exceptional Riesling lots and beautifully crafts a dry white wine that highlights the unique characteristics of each vintage. This Riesling is the finest our estate vineyards offer in one bottle. 

It is a dry, crisp, vibrant wine with flavors of nectarines, orange blossoms and hints of lime; a juicy fruit-laden palate and a shale and lanolin finish.

A Chardonnay fermented in stainless steel that reveals flavors of baked apple, a hint of fig jelly and jasmine, with a clean mineral finish.

A dry, fruity Riesling with fine bubbles that dance on the palate and showcases flavors of apricot and stone fruit with a hint-of-lime on the finish. It is beautifully balanced by a crisp acidity.

Enjoy this crisp, aromatic Sauvignon Blanc with notes of lemongrass and flavors of papaya, grapefruit, and gooseberry that linger on the finish. 

Grüner Veltliner is a dry wine that has flavors of freshly squeezed grapefruit, lime peel and is herbaceous with a clean balanced finish. 

White Blend

With each harvest, our winemaker selects from the most exceptional lots and beautifully crafts a dry white wine that highlights the unique characteristics of each vintage. Prestige is the finest our estate vineyards offer, blended in one bottle. 

A delightful Gewürztraminer that has flavors of lychee and raw honey with aromas of clove, rose petals, and peppercorns. 

This quintessential Finger Lakes Rosé has a vibrant acidity; with aromas of Orange Zest and flavors of strawberry, ripe watermelon and a crisp, tart, cherry finish.

A cool climate, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon that has aromas of worn leather saddles in a cedar chest and showcases flavors of dark cherry, cassis, hints of black licorice accompanied by firm tannins.

This Chardonnay is fermented and aged in oak to reveal flavors of roasted almonds and drawn butter with hints of Crème Brûlée, soft integrated toasted oak and salted caramel. 

An elegant Merlot, true to the varietal, this wine exhibits flavors of ripe raspberries and plum and has structured but softened tannins with aromas of light tobacco and vanilla mocha coffee. 

A Cabernet Franc with unmistakable aromas of baked blackberry tarts, sage and hewn mahogany planks; its ample tannin structure and flavors of strawberry and rhubarb give this wine a nimble, medium-bodied finish.
