A brief history
Merritt Estate Winery was one of the first farm wineries organized in Chautauqua County under regulations established by Governor Carey in 1976; but the history of the Merritt Estate dates all the way back to the late 1800's. Back then, the original homestead belonged to the parents of Marguerite Merritt-Sample, which means Merritt Estate has been in the same family since the late 19th century.
Merritt Estate Winery is located in the largest grape growing region east of the Rockies and the largest Concord grape growing region in the world. The grapes and wines produced in this area rival the quality of premium vintages found throughout the world. Merritt Winery currently produces over 27 award-winning wines, and is known for their famous "Wine Slush" in a variety of flavors which include our XTC. Sangria, & 5' O Clock wines.
