Frederick Spencer Johnson (1921-1998), grew up on the farm his father purchased. He served in World War II as a naval aviator, graduated from Cornell University in 1946, and then raised his family overseas while working for Nelson Rockefeller’s various agricultural endeavors. When Frederick Spencer returned to the farm in 1960 after his father died, he removed the aging fruit orchards and was first farmer or "pioneer" in Western New York to plant French-hybrid wine grapes in a region completely dominated by Concord and Labruscan juice grapes. His favorite French hybrid grape was Chancellor. Frederick Spencer opened the winery in 1961, receiving New York Farm Winery license No. 2.

Pronounced floral spice aromas followed by flavors of citrus and lime zest. 

A popular French-hybrid wine. A small-berried dark grape which is the first to ripen, our award-winning Maréchal Foch is semi-dry, rich, very dark red and simultaneously fresh and mellow. A very happy companion to just about anything with goat cheese. A rich, smooth, and velvety vintage of Maréchal Foch.

Crisp, citrusy, and aromatic, moderately dry and attractively fruity with delicate character, reminiscent of a Sauvignon Blanc.

Delightfully mellow, semi-dry, light-bodied red wine with a fresh and abundant fruit character, reminiscent of Beaujolais.

Soft, smooth red wine; excellent everyday table wine similar to Lambrusco. Made from estate grapes - Concord, Maréchal Foch, and Delaware.

Slightly sweeter than Proprietor's Red, but with similar Lambrusco fruit flavors in a smooth red blend. Soft and fruity.

Delightfully semi-sweet wine with a brilliant garnet red color and a mellow, yet very distinctive fruit character that compares very favorably to a Lambrusco.

Sweet and fruity, deep and rich with pronounced grape flavors and a silky mouth feel. An intensely flavored regional wine. 

A Provençal-style dry rosé made from estate-grown Pinot Noir grapes.

This saignée Ruby Dry Rosé is rich and flavorful, crisp and refreshing. Bright notes of berries and watermelon lead to a full palate of fresh fruit with a zesty finish.

The delicate color of the wine reflects the light red hue of the grape, and the wine's full, fragrant and fruitful sweetness is delightfully reminiscent of the Delaware's fully-ripened flavor.
